Frequently Asked Questions

Please use our contact us page if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Our honey is raw and unfiltered, which means it retains all of its natural enzymes and nutrients. It also has a unique flavor profile depending on the types of flowers our bees pollinate.

We have honey that is local, but we also have flavors that can only be produced by bees in other parts of the country.  Come see us and sample each flavor to see what suits your personal taste.

Raw honey is not heated or filtered, which means it retains all of its natural enzymes and nutrients. Processed honey is heated and filtered, which can remove some of the beneficial properties.

We keep honeybees (Apis mellifera) which are the most common type of bee used for honey production.

Yes, the honey you purchased is raw and unfiltered and has not been processed in any way. Crystallization is a completely natural, harmless process. Rather than spoiling, crystallization is often a sign of pure, unadulterated, and high-quality raw honey.

Why It Happens

Honey is a supersaturated sugar solution containing mostly natural sugars (glucose and fructose) and a very small amount of water. Because there is more sugar dissolved than the water can technically hold, the glucose will eventually separate from the water and form crystals.

  • Raw Honey: Unfiltered raw honey has tiny bits of pollen and beeswax. These particles give the sugar crystals a perfect anchor (or "nucleation site") to start forming, making it crystallize faster.
  • Store-Bought Honey: Highly processed and mass-produced honey crystallizes much more      slowly because it has been filtered and gently heated to remove these particles and melt preexisting crystals.

How to Fix It

If you prefer your honey to be in a smooth, pourable liquid state, you can easily melt the crystals away with gentle heat.

1. Place the honey jar into a larger bowl or pot of warm water (aim for about 100 degrees Fahrenheit)

  1. Let it sit, stirring occasionally, until the crystals completely dissolve.
  2. Note: Avoid boiling water or using a microwave, as excessive heat can destroy the beneficial enzymes, vitamins,  and flavor profile of the honey
